Who?

Who?

A Poem by Pete
"

We have the St. Vitus' dance, and cannot possibly keep our heads still. - Thoreau

"
The jig dance tradition: five centuries old and still counting

when clouds come
and come they will
who'll bar the door

when tears fall
and fall they will
who'll stop the coming of more

when i die
and die i will
who'll stoop down to plant a daisy

when i get to pearly gates
and to pearly gates i pray
who'll be too tired and lazy

when darkness abides
and abide it will
who'll raise the day

when morning comes
and come it will
who'll tilt their bright beret

when dew is naked to the sun
and naked it will be
who'll dare to turn, leap and step a joyous, measured bourée

"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away." - Thoreau

Who? Good question and, I wonder how many of us ask about the who? Some of us do hear a different drummer, which is okay, especially if we follow our own beat. The secret is to have the type of friends who don't care that one's beat is different from theirs. They will love you anyway. They are the "who"; the truest of friends who will let you be whoever you want to be. Very thoughtful poem. Thank you for sharing it with us. Temp
