Born Again

Born Again

A Poem by Pete
"

It's only by forgetting yourself that you draw near to God. - Thoreau

"
Man Sitting On Luggage On Road Side During Sunset Picture. Image: 109885676

prone in a lions den
prostate in the belly of a fish
standing at attention in a fiery furnace
staggering under a blazing desert sun

i try to walk through an open door
but my baggage doesn't fit
it is knocked down from my shoulders by the top of that door as I force my way in
saying to myself, "to hell with it"
as i continue moving forward

weight lighter
future brighter
faith so much tighter
no longer a need to doubt
only a profound need to quietly shout
mattering not where i've been

born again

Author's Note

Pete
"It is not when I am going to meet him, but when I am just turning away and leaving him alone, that I discover what God is. I say, God. I am not sure that that is the name. You will know what I mean." - Thoreau
