Just A Little Sin

Just A Little Sin

A Poem by Pete
"

The only sin in the world is ignorance. - Thoreau

"
David and Goliath

open the door a crack
don't bother looking back
i won't stay long
won't take up much space
barely leaving a trace
after all, we've all fallen short of grace
answer when i knock
climb down off your rock
stop leaning on that pillar
i swear, it'll be a real thriller

we'll have some fun
like an uncloistered nun
quickly rolling downhill like an out-of-control ball
quickly morphing from some to all
i don't write, i scrawl
don't worry 'bout the fall
when we can't walk anymore, we'll crawl
it'll be sweet and swell
no need to fear goin' to hell
the virtue that turns the knob will silence and quell

don't worry 'bout transgression
don't fear mean regression
there's always confession
and intercession
you won't even remember me tomorrow
'cept for the sorrow
i'll barely scratch your skin
so let me in
after all

i'm just a little sin

Author's Note

Pete
"Alas! this is the crying sin of the age, this want of faith in the prevalence of a man. Nothing can be effected but by one man. He who wants help wants everything. True, this is the condition of our weakness, but it can never be the means of our recovery. We must first succeed alone, that we may enjoy our success together." - Thoreau
