what can i write that's never been written

how can i love without being smitten

how can there be a cat without first a kitten

when does a push become a shove

without hands to feel, how can something fit like a glove

what can i think that's not been thought

what can i sell that's never been bought

how can i learn without being taught

what can i feel that's not been felt

how does one tighten a bible belt

where do secrets go when they long to be told

how can i live without growing old

how does a serpent sell fruit that should never be sold

some people want to leave their mark upon a fallen world

i prefer to leave it just as i found it

flying at half mast on a straight pole that's been curled

a flag of truth never needing to be unfurled

Speaking the truth whether you come in first, second or last is what matters in life, not necessarily what you strive for: many of us want the best of everything even if it means not being totally honest, or even fake…
