What Is A Lonely Poet To Do?

Good poetry seems so simple and natural a thing that when we meet it we wonder that all men are not always poets. Poetry is nothing but healthy speech. - Thoreau

i wrote you a poem but no one was home

penned you a sonnet but you didn't want it

fashioned a rhyme but you couldn't find the time

scribbled some verse but that turned out to be a curse

typed an ode but you flushed it down the commode

composed an elegy but it only fanned the flames of jealousy

scrawled a limerick but you thought it a mere, laughable trick

i inscribed a villanelle but that didn't sell

expounded a ballad but you shredded it on top of your salad

spelled out an acrostic and still you remained an agnostic

cited you a haiku but you told me to, "shoo"

i even posted a senryu and yet you still had no clue

so tell me

what is a lonely poet to do

Lonely poet is write. (Right) Most poets I believe are somewhat lonely and loners if not by choice or choice again

yes, me too. I tend to be a loner but when i have something to say it usually can't wait and needs an immediate outlet. writing fits the bill. thank you julie ... :)
