Below The Frost Line

Below The Frost Line

A Poem by Pete

Fantasy shovel stuck in tall pile of ...

'tween seemingly subtle lines of prose
with patches in their hearts, clothes and souls
musicians, poets and philosophers dig recondite holes

depths and cavities that no one else has ever climbed out of or knows
it's not always pleasant or palatable to look at what truth, feeling and emotion throws
especially when a rusty shovel atop a pile of dirt is all that shows

Poetic thoughts and emotions run deep and can be hard to express the enormity of their depth that wave inside us. Sometimes they lay rust like a forgotten shovel because we compartmentalize them until we are ready to dig into our souls depth to spring them into bloom
