This Surely Must Be The Place

A Poem by Pete
"

Life in us is like the water in a river. - Thoreau

"
Jordan River Baptism Site | Danny The ...

alive
flowing
hell a question and heaven knowing
believing and conceiving
snakes deceiving
baptismal antiseptic
meandering fits and starts awash epileptic

never an indian giver
cleansing  my sin-soaked liver
soul aquiver
faith ready to deliver
god's caregiver
take me to the river

stand me up 'pon embankments of grace
deal me that elusive ace
yes lord, show me your face
take up my case
after all
this surely must be the place
