"A thrumming of piano-strings beyond the gardens and through the elms. At length the melody steals into my being. I know not when it began to occupy me. By some fortunate coincidence of thought or circumstance I am attuned to the universe, I am fitted to hear, my being moves in a sphere of melody, my fancy and imagination are excited to an inconceivable degree. This is no longer the dull earth on which I stood." - Thoreau

The Schuman Resonance is a constant, fundamental sound frequency of 7.83 Hz that the earth emits at all times. It's not audible to humans but it certainly is there and it would seem that something like that has always been here. It's the "sound" of the crust interacting with the mantle and the mantle interacting with the outer core and the outer core interacting with the inner core... it's a symphony that has been playing for about 4 billion years. This might have been off topic, sorry about that.

interesting, you've taught me something. we sure can feel and hear the earth quake though!
Dear Pete: Love this Brevity poem! so much nature and its quiet and it's rumbling sounds when trees sway to the oncoming winds...but not disturbing, just like a symphony....where your heart flutters with the music and your ears take it all in!! The clouds might even dance!
Warmly, B

No, their songs are never too loud. That is the reason they can soothe one. I have in recent years learned to give more attention to the trees and clouds. They are an oasis amidst the traffic (But do remember to keep your eye on the road, too.).

I love reading, writing, music, nature, God and feeling emotion, not necessarily in that order. To me, these things go hand in hand. My favorite writer is Henry David Thoreau. I think he was a geni.. more..
