I had forgotten that scene from the movie. Paul Newman plays a banjo and sings? Why, yes he did! Way back when, I thought that song was a bit sacrilegious, but now I don't take such things so serious. Yeah, whatever frees us.

My favorite prison movies are Cool Hand Luke, Papillion, The Bird Man of Alcatraz, Shawshank Redemption and The Great Escape. McQueen's in two of those and Burt Lancaster was the Birdman. All good movies.

I read the Green Mile as it came out in Chapter books. I used to have them but they got lost. I'm about to start on an apocalyptic thriller by James Rollins titled Starless Crown. I picked it up at a thrift store. Hopefully, the world will get saved in the end. I'm going to want a happy ending. (laughing)

newman's character, luke, had just found out that his mother passed away and sang this song in grief. classic, touching movie scene and song - got me to thinking and feeling and this spilled out. thanks for the share and stay cool kelly!
