dear diary,

caught in a downward, spiraling twister

sucking out breath and life

spinning chaos, vomiting lies, regurgitating deception

this world squeezes me in its vice

laughing on the outside

fingernails on the chalkboard of my guts

demons laugh back louder

i point an accusatory finger at them

while a million crooked, haunting, middle fingers point back at me

against the grain

sacrilege and pain

one thing after another after another

lost in somewhere short of eternity

trying to rake up money everywhere like falling, autumn leaves

god nothing but a concept

not to be thought of or reckoned with until wrinkles on deathbeds need smoothing

faith, truth and reason cast out

nowhere to be found

lost souls gagged and bound

self indulgence dances a selfish jig

at the expense of mercy and compassion for others

i try to stick to the faith road less traveled

with what's left of my tired mind and war-torn druthers

while living in a world unraveled

until tomorrow

in this place that's so fiery

good night,

sleep tight,

dear diary

As I read this poem, I thought of life, so chaotic and we, in its throes, on an emotional roller coaster ride that only ends with death. With such stimulation, such sheer inspiration, how can any thinking, feeling soul postpone writing? This poem is such a powerful expression of intellect and thought. Superb Author's Note too.
