Rapscallions And Dandelions

Rapscallions And Dandelions

A Poem by Pete
"

A man's real faith is never contained in his creed, nor is his creed an article of his faith. - Thoreau

"
This Old Church

with his thorny crown
he never went to church
'cuz he figured that if he did the walls would surely fall down
leaving everything in a lurch

little did he know
that it was people like him who were holding them up
a black book with a golden cross 'pon it is a hand-me-down
giving the low down
and that book spells it out, blow-by-blow

Author's Note

Pete
"The tavern will compare favorably with the church. The church is the place where prayers and sermons are delivered, but the tavern is where they are to take effect, and if the former are good, the latter cannot be bad." - Thoreau
