Heavy Fuel

Heavy Fuel

A Poem by Pete
"

Age is no better, hardly so well, qualified for an instructor as youth, for it has not profited so much as it has lost. - Thoreau

"
Daniel Castro Maia | Illustration ...

look at me
what happened
what have i become
how did i get undone

it's as if youth and aged are having a duel
and youth lost
no longer cool
swimming in the shallow end of the pool
running on fumes
all out of heavy fuel

Pete
"As we grow older, we live more coarsely, we relax a little in our disciplines, and, to some extent, cease to obey our finest instincts. But we should be fastidious to the extreme of sanity, disregarding the gibes of those who are more unfortunate than ourselves." - Thoreau
