Pardon Me, Do You Happen To Know What Day This Is?

Pardon Me, Do You Happen To Know What Day This Is?

A Poem by Pete
"

I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion. - Thoreau

Free Sunset Traffic Jam Image ...

i'll see you at the on-ramp
where it's easier to start your car than your day
last night had little to say
i don't know how to put it any other way
far too often, life gives us a cramp

Author's Note

Pete
“When I consider that the nobler animal have been exterminated here - the cougar, the panther, lynx, wolverine, wolf, bear, moose, dear, the beaver, the turkey and so forth and so forth, I cannot but feel as if I lived in a tamed and, as it were, emasculated country... Is it not a maimed and imperfect nature I am conversing with? As if I were to study a tribe of Indians that had lost all it's warriors...I take infinite pains to know all the phenomena of the spring, for instance, thinking that I have here the entire poem, and then, to my chagrin, I hear that it is but an imperfect copy that I possess and have read, that my ancestors have torn out many of the first leaves and grandest passages, and mutilated it in many places. I should not like to think that some demigod had come before me and picked out some of the best of the stars. I wish to know an entire heaven and an entire earth.” - Thoreau

I pick and choose carefully these days the time I travel. From my working days, I remember well situations of being stuck in traffic jams on motorways for hours on end. That was hell. Nice to let the train take the strain at times. Too much traffic, too many people. Less is more. Hope all is good either way you Pete. Can you remember the group Traffic. They, just came into my mind:)

The accompanying picture reminded me of my working days, now thankfully long past. I truly believe one of the circles of hell is an urban expressway at rush hour.

I can't disagree with you - may be the inspiration for ac/dc's song, 'highway to hell'.
