Midnight Rider

Midnight Rider

A Poem by Pete
"

When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. I am related to the earliest times, and to the latest. - Thoreau

"
Midnight Ride ...

when flying fingers dig into tickled ivories and jingling, steel spur strings
coming together in harmony with brass this, that and everything
when my chair rocks and rolls like granny's black and blue glider
i've no choice but to hold on and open wider
for a guzzle of that hard, groovin', musical cider
like hitting a homerun off of a cy young slider
biding time
'til i can holler as i drop my last silver dollar
counting the minutes impatiently
for the long-awaited, much anticipated, next gallop of that elusive
midnight rider
