Angels of Mercy

A Poem by Pete
"

What a singular fact for an angel visitant to this earth to carry back in his note-book, that men were forbidden to expose their bodies under the severest penalties! - Thoreau

raindrops
psalms, proverbs and revelations of truth
open hymnals of divinity drag racing down my window pane
which isn't lame
which doesn't limp with a cane
which doesn't pretend or feign
which doesn't leave a burnt-rubber, tire-mark stain
which one won't crash with disdain

for better or worse
which has the best power burst
which doesn't need to be coddled and nursed
which is cursed
which will quench my soul's thirst
which is more rehearsed
which is faster, smoother and far better versed
which one will cross the finish line first
