Secret Journey

Secret Journey

A Poem by Pete
"

To the man who cherishes a secret in his breast, there is still a greater secret unexplored. - Thoreau

"
Burning bush, Burning bush craft, Where ...

take my bereft hand
come with me on a secret journey
we'll travel beyond the clouds
where we'll raise our dark, lonely death shrouds
in the presence of the moon and stars
in a place that is only ours
where souls float freely
it's true i tell you, really
a place where there is no pain and nothing is plain
where everyone knows your name
a place where love can erase the worst sin's stain
where no one lies, cries or dies
where there is nothing to lose and everything to gain

you'll meet a man who is both judge and jury
over us and our longing hearts,  he has complete power of attorney
his gavel striking so much deeper than touchy-feely
opening blind eyes that are encrusted and steely
in a holy land
where flames don't need to be fanned
where everything and everyone is made to understand
when that man  gives a silent command, water flows inexplicably from rocks and sand
where bushes burn and aren't consumed
where stone tablets are inscribed and nothing is assumed
a place where storms obey when they're told to be still
where obedience is greater than will
and faith grows on every window sill

This one feels solemn yet strangely luminous like a sermon whispered in verse. There’s conviction beneath the imagery, an almost judicial spirituality that weighs sin, faith, and release with poetic gravity. It reads as if mortality and divinity are meeting in quiet negotiation. Haunting but reverent.
