crossed hearts
hands 'pon black books
in foxholes and hospital rooms
the habits of nuns
those undeserving on the wrong end of guns

steadfast
stained glassed
at long last
not a coin tossed or flipped
what's mumbled on desperate, quivering, praying lips
what falling tears of fear and joy saith
a thing called faith
