If I Let You Into My Mind

If I Let You Into My Mind

A Poem by Pete
"

There is considerable danger that a man will be crazy between dinner and supper; but it will not directly answer any good purpose that I know of, and it is just as easy to be sane. - Thoreau

"
ithought be planted in someone's mind ...

if i let you into my mind
would you leave anything behind
would you think me deft
would you be courteous enough to shut the door when you left
would you think me sick
would you feel like the victim of a cruel trick
would you run away in horror
would you think me sane or pity me twisted
would you want my number or have me delisted
would you want to stay or call the cops
would you sweep the floors, take out the trash and wring out the mops
would you veer to the left or merge to the right
would you celebrate your good fortune or mourn your plight
would you swim with the tide as it flows and ebbs
would you explore it all despite the dust and cobwebs
would there be plenty of rattling room or would it be too confined
would you make sure that the register was accurate and signed
would you be confident that your credit card would not be declined
would you find it a dump or worse a sty
would you discover it to be the mind of a totally different guy
would you find it defended by truth or overrun by a lie

if i let you into my mind
would you be satisfied or desire a different kind
would you applaud free wills
would you run for the hills
knowing my thoughts, would you want to even the score
would you don a straightjacket for less or disrobe for more
would you keep running or dare to look behind
would you eat the fruit and toss the rind
would you think me sadistic or kind
would you wander about aimlessly and count the hours
would you nurse it back to health and water the flowers
would you try to steal my cognitive powers
would you find it at peace
would you slip and slide on its spilled, cooked-up grease
would you dance 'pon the floors that were long ago cemented
would you fall through the cracks that were freshly demented
what would you find and what would you do
could you find the missing brick or the lost shoe
would you reattach the broken pieces with superglue
would you let in the light by lifting the blind
if i let you into what's left of my mind

You got an awful lot of corridors in your mind Pete. I think I would be crazy to step inside. Sounds like a maze in there. Once in I might not find my way out:) Such a fun piece. And if I was brave enough to step over the doorstep, not sure that I’d contribute anything remotely positive. I’d probably add to the confusion:))

wow ............................. didn't feel an invitation until your closing, Pete .... i can't honestly answer any of the questions without knowing that mysterious, maybe terrifying mind of which you speak ... but ... just as any warrior going into battle hopes for .... that I not show cowardice ... that I stand by my buddies ... I would hope that I would lend light, lift the blind ... even open the windows to that mind for you ... but who the hell am i :))))))))))))))))))))
luv and peace

Wonderful phrasing and meter, sir Pete! How true to life your words are, how two people have share this and that but not quite so keen to share that and this?!

Your mind is obviously a myriad place with a great sense of rhyhm and rhyme. There are ifs and buts, fun and logic in your words. In fact, your best friend, monsieur Thoreau, certainly had you working on full power as you created the above. Such fine writing, as usual, sir.
