That Which Flows Also Delivers

That Which Flows Also Delivers

A Poem by Pete
"

Every poet's muse is circumscribed in her wanderings, and may be well said to haunt some favorite spring or mountain. - Thoreau

"
Assabet River | Massrivers

i love the river
blessed almsgiver
its wise innocence
its restrained power
its solace at any time and any hour
sanctifying, high tower

its wealth split 'tween two banks
continually donating a sense of thanks
the way it reflects the sun, moon and stars
as it whispers to me, "this time and life is ours"
fascinating me
creating a sense of longing
a sense of belonging
prolonging

holding not malice nor capable of wrongdoing
i crave it with a purpose of wooing
taking me anywhere i wish to go and back again
teaching me all that i desire to know as i wander its glen
allowing me to take life in stride
bestowing 'pon me a sense of distinct pride
baptizing me over and over
granting me closure
with its everflowing, soft-spoken glide
as i hold its hand like a virgin bride
and to think ...
all without leaving its side

Everything to like about this post. I grooved to the music, it suited my mood. I admired the icy image of the river in winter and I was carried on the flow of your words. I have such an affinity with rivers Pete. Live really close to the banks of the Thames.
