Same As It Ever Was

Same As It Ever Was

A Poem by Pete
"

Things do not change; we change. - Thoreau

"
Same as it ever was

oblivious wind rattles a chime
stepping in at just the right time to rhyme
seed of a miraculous human, enzyme
we're born but once in a lifetime

to live is to die
letting the days go by
forgetting to look up at the sky
not knowing when to ask how and why
putting truth on a hanger and wearing a naked lie

whereas, although and because
sure as bees buzz, peaches have fuzz and morning dew does
same as it ever was
even if you shorten it to 'twas
