When There Are No Words

When There Are No Words

A Poem by Pete

Words should pass between friends as the lightning passes from cloud to cloud. - Thoreau

Sad Man Walking On Beach Pier by ...

when there are no words for what you think or feel
there is music
gibberish and screams
rotten nightmares and sweet dreams
the moon, the stars, the clouds and the sun
an infinity of numbers after one
along with an eternity that is never done

there are tears
fears, formulas and forgotten years
cheers and jeers
there is silence
white flags and relinquishing self reliance
changing gears and a sky that always clears
not to mention short walks on long piers

A fluid, thoughtful piece that captures how emotion spills into images when language falls away. The mix of chaos and calm gives it a quiet resonance.
