Moody, Performing A Sworn Duty

Moody, Performing A Sworn Duty

A Poem by Pete
"

Is not January the hardest month to get through? When you have weathered that you get into the gulf-stream of winter nearer the shores of spring. - Thoreau

"
Nature February Images

seemingly stuck in the past
too often turning a cold shoulder
its straining sun giving me hope
maybe it's a bookmarked, place holder
maybe it's a sign of a time growing older
maybe it's the last chilling blast
maybe it just wants to be seen in a different scope
maybe it's a pop quiz
maybe it just is what it is

short and airy
as its finicky, fickle moods vary
maybe its like the tooth fairy
mourning an overbite
relenting at long last
trying to rattle me and my windows at night
maybe it wants me to open the door and let it in
so that finally, face to face,
it can make me raise my hand and take the stand,
as it questions my faith and sin

An interesting take on the winter season, and that challenging month we call January...

I liked the flow of this one Pete...I can echo the sentiments....moody and tough to embrace

But I guess, like Thoreau says....it leads us eventually to spring....

Thanks for sharing this one mate

Love the imagery here, beautiful winter poem. If only it could come in small doses lol, the novelty of winter wears off very quickly

Keep up the amazing work!

makes us appreciate summer all the more. thank you for sharing kind thoughts.
Feeling your Thoreau quote this afternoon. I'm in the northeast, in New England, and... we're looking at 4 consecutive days of snow this weekend. Blargh.
