Rapture Capture

A Poem by Pete
"

As if you could kill time without injuring eternity. - Thoreau

Dandelion Blowing Stock Video Footage ...

days stack like cord wood
i burn through them with each spent breath, trying to keep my spirit warm
clutching straw, time washes like the tide
crashing, then caressing the shore whilst hugging a bottomless, sandy floor
whitewashed, black rocks lined up in eternity
faith grows weary, prayers jiggling the handle of a seemingly, always locked door

my life is but a gust of wind
once exhaled, forever searching for more
flesh nothing but a dandelion spore
love keeps trying to roller skate, with broken wheels
i dine on an ephemeral harvest of fruit and toss the peels
gnawing the last of eden's tempting apples down to the core

"Time is but the stream I go a-fishing in. I drink at it; but while I drink I see the sandy bottom and detect how shallow it is. Its thin current slides away, but eternity remains." - Thoreau

You give a wonderful feeling of eternity in your description Pete. A timeless piece, and we are fleeting in our presence. A dust mote in an ocean sky. Lovely writing. Have a great weekend.
