Why oh Why?

Why oh Why?

A Poem by Samuel Dickens
"

It's the season!

"

Here I lie beneath the sky

But why oh why oh why?

“Our roof is gone,” said my sister

“Taken by a Texas twister”

Author's Note

Samuel Dickens
I wrote this for Emma's group, but couldn't figure out how to post it there. It's not much, I know, but maybe will cause a grin or two.

It used to be said that they'd steal anything not nailed down, but nature doesn't play by the rules when she us annoyed. 😃

Thanks. In this part of the world, tornados are a real threat. I'll try to follow your instructions.

A fun little poem, Sam, about a terrifying force. I remember such a thing in Waco, my home town, as you know. It was thought, for some reason I don't recall, that Waco was safe from tornadoes, but in 1954, when I was 7, a twister sashayed down main street and swept up two kids in the town swimming pool then moseyed off with them, leaving much destruction, shock, and terror behind. I still get the jitters when I hear one announced in some weather bulletin. Your little bitty ditty made me smile -- but it was a nervous smile. Thanks a lot. :)

This one made my breath quicken. A few years back, a tornado came through the Kawartha Lakes at 430 in the morning, and it was a terrifying experience. Your verse brought that all back. The devastation was unreal.

That's the case here in Ontario. We had a few late last year, which is not normal for November.
Nice. Been in a hurricane of such force a twister would cower and the result was quite similar. The sheer power of nature is astounding. Much enjoyed 🙏🏻🕊️

And it has caused a grin or two from/by me! Your words are an example of 'never was a word said in jest - unless written by Mr Dickens!' Offered and laid in your usual grand style, sir.

Thank you.
I hope this is not true????? Our country is being pummeled by tornados. I hope you and your loved ones are ok. I know you live somewhere prone to tornados, too. Yikes! Aside from real life concern, I enjoyed your poem. It is a nice use of rhyme and meter, which I admire. I'm terrible at that. What was the group assignment/goal? I'm really happy to see new work from you!
