Dirty Hands

Dirty Hands

A Poem by Samuel Dickens
"

The price you pay

"

Lying there with hateful stare

And filthiness beyond compare

You rip apart this heart of mine

And send cold chills right up my spine

I swear to you this very day

I’ll sweep your sorry a*s away

No obstacle shall you remain

Causing grief and fits of pain

Without you, I'll live anew

And gaze upon a better view

A painful price to scratch an itch

For cleaning house is such a b***h

Washing clothes, dusting shelves

Kicking butts to bloody hell

This be my just lot and tome

For dirty hands must keep a home

My wife doesn't do much housework, and leaves it to the once-per-week cleaning lady. I had to finish her dirty laundry this morning in order to do my own....GRRRRR.

This is exactly why I like living alone. If there is a mess, at least it is my mess and not something that makes me angry with someone else. Although I have to admit, back when I shared apartments with roommates, I was pretty terrible to live with. My family had a daily housekeeper and I thought bathtubs and floors cleaned themselves. Like magic. All you had to do was not get them dirty, they'd stay clean. Haha. No.

In all my years I've never quite figured out if it's better to clean, dust etc as you go or attack it all at once and ruin a weekend per month exhausting yourself into submission, just to keep the place looking normal.
But I have learned over the years that you should always begin with dusting, as it takes a while to settle once disturbed and I now begin every cleaning day with getting my old pensioner steps out and cleaning the tops of doors (I don't know what dust likes about them, but it defies logic the amount of it that breeds up there and then after a coffee break I'll wash down the doors too, before attempting to vacuum.
In between those ill put on a clothes wash, just about at the time Katie pops in from next door for a coffee or breakfast. If I'm truly evil I'll put on some bacon to tempt her my way as she is a professional at hanging clothes out to dry. (Why can women get them all wrinkle free when I have to fight them into submission?)
By the time I get to wash the flooring, I look at my watch in the hope it is bed time again and am immediately disappointed it's still only 11am!
But after another coffee I'm ready to face the world, then think better of it and grab a book and lump on the sofa for the rest of the day.
But try telling a woman that a guys work is never done and you best immediately duck! 😃

Oh boy Sam, I know what you mean! I have the exact opposite situation and I could say a few choice words here- but won’t. Love the humor and rhyme. Hate the situation! We shall rise up my friend! :))

This reminds me of why I never got married. There have been times when I was a neatnik, but now I'm mainly a beatnik! As in "too beat" to do chores. I finally got my whole place weed-whacked for the 3rd time, hopefully the last, according to fire regs. With all the outdoor activity this time of year, you probably wouldn't want to see how far behind I am on my indoor chores! The dogs are very tolerant, tho! *wink! wink!* (((HUGS)))
