Wings

Wings

A Poem by Pumpkin Girl

I tried my hardest to make you happy
But I was just another toy to throw away
Everything I did meant nothing to you
Hated my sexuality
You tried to change it to fit your expectations
But I resisted
After months of trying to fix me, I finally gave in
I gave in to your needs to make you happy
I was left throwing away all the pieces of me away
You were finally happy with the results
Breaking away from you
Felt like I had the right to be who I am
Without having you tower over me
Deciding everything for me and how I should live
I felt like I could fly without having my wings chopped off
The taste of freedom is so much better than loving you

This sounds like someone trying to fit in the Norm of what others expect from you. And then eventually realizing you want to be who you where meant to be deep inside and out. Breaking the chains that bind and flying free as YOU.
