When I close my eyes, it is you I see
but when I open them, you're nowhere to be seen
I claw my way out of this dream,
because in this dream, I read a text that said you love me
With haste, I rush to my phone,
I take a deep breath to relieve a wrenching heart
My fingers brushed through my hair,
upset, beating myself because I got us here
To feel unwanted is a feeling that hurts,
and knowing you're still loved -
makes everything that much worst
To you I say; I'm sorry honey
and I hope someday soon -
you'll come running to me

Author's Note

I didn't know I'd fall in love again and I definitely wasn't expecting to feel broken again. I'm no stranger to this feeling but this time was different. It hurt so much than the first time and it's been nearly a month since the one I loved has parted ways with me. I truly wish her the best and I hope someday soon we can work out but for now, I made a promise to myself. A promise that will remain untold.
