What Books Have Taught Me

What Books Have Taught Me

A Story by Quinn W

I was recently told to "Put down that book. Do not waste your time in a fictional world, read something worth while!" This story goes out to that cranky old man I met waiting for my piano lesson.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone: "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light."
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: "We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are."
The Fault in our Stars: "The scars humans leave are too often scars."
Mockingjay: "It takes ten times longer to pull yourself together as it does to fall apart."
Divergent: "Becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. It's learning how to control your fear and how to be free from it."
Divergent: " I have a theory that selfishness and bravery aren't all that different."
The Maze Runner: "If you ain't scared, you ain't human."
The Mortal Instruments: "Heroes aren't always the ones who win. They're the ones who lose, sometimes. But they keep fighting, they keep coming back. They don't give up. That's what makes them heroes."
The Mortal Instruments: "People aren't born Good or Bad. Maybe they're born with tendencies either way. But it's the way you live your life that matters."
The Selection: "It's always the fear of looking stupid that stops you from being awesome."
The Selection: "There is a different type of beauty that comes with humility and honesty."
Frankenstein (Mary Shelley): "Nothing is so painful to the human mind as a great and sudden change."
Animal Farm: "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."
Animal Farm: "I WILL WORK HARDER!"  *sniff* *sniff* Boxer *sniff* *sniff*
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children: "What an unchallenging life it would be if we always got things right on the first go."
Hollow City: "I liked this idea. That Peculiars weren't a deficiency but an abundance."
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children: "I used to dream about escaping my ordinary life, but my life was never ordinary. I had simply failed to notice how extraordinary it was."
AND FINALLY!!! Harry Potter: "When in doubt, go to a library."

I liked this. Some very well known quotes. I wonder if the cranky old fart knows any. Probably not as he obviously doesn't read or watch anything of interest.

KEEP READING THE BOOKS AND WATCHING THE MOVIES!!!!

Mark.
