Awaiting the EndA Poem by Quinn WAn old woman awaits her death.
They said it would happen soon,
that my eyes would close and heartbeat slow. I didn't realize it would come so fast. My vision blurs as tears roll down my cheeks. It's over. It's done. I don't have to fight anymore. I feel a warmth enter my soul. I've waited so long for this moment to come. Many times, I tried to coax it my way. That was when I was young and my problems seemed much bigger. The blades, the rope, but it wasn't my time yet. Now it is. And I'm ready.
