A Song About Nothing

A Song About Nothing

A Poem by Sramana Majumdar

I woke up today and thought..

things to do, lists to make, promises to break..

things to try - put in a box, on the side

time to run, catch a glimpse..standby

my watch, my money, my smile my ring

a minute to stare..maybe a half to sing.

The morning came..and rushed me on

As the wind it played and swayed along,

i ate and walked and walked and slept

Thinking not of the Thoughts that wept..

Doing and craving, speaking in sounds

they creaked in silence, as i unwound.

I woke up today....and Thought

that is all there is..that is all that is worth..

my time..i know its my prime

i know what you will say, dont waste make hay!

but you see not what i see..so let me be.

flowing like a stream..flowing into a dream

with my face in the sink,

please, Just let me think.

Hurry along, back and forth,

go round in circles, and again, and more

Cling on to time, like a bird on a wire

Dream them big and watch them die.

Rise from the ashes and hear them ring..

Smile in peace..as my Thoughts they sing.
