I Think You've Heard Of Us

We are the people

who make a difference

in the circle and cycle

we call Earth.

We are the people

who are different,

the way we walk,

the way we talk and the way we think.

We are the people

who look at a candle

and hear the melodies and harmonies

of a flickering song.

We are the people

who listen to a song

and see the colors and strokes

of a passionate painting.

We are the people

who are curious,

who don't always fit in,

can't always fit in.

We are the people

who lead,

who follow,

and learn everything we can.

We are the people

who stare rules

and knowledge and power

in the eye and say

No.

We are the people

who go by the names

of "crazy", "daring",

or "absolutely insane".

celebrate us,

for we are the future

and we are the past.

but mostly we are the present.

This was great! i read this and i thought "man, i wish i was more like this" it makes rare appearences in me, anyway.
we need some more of those old souls, we cant all go around newborn (i think i'll write a poem about that-- way to inspire!)
