Dreams or nightmares could certainly caused by life events, hurtful news, or terrible situations. These events stuck in our memories, and it appeared as dreams or nightmares.

In a combat zone, people were dreaming about peace and freedom. They looked forward to safe and blissful days. They dreamed about smiling instead of crying. They hoped for peace instead of war. They were living their worst nightmares.

Jad was sitting with his parents near the TV, when he saw a sorrowful sight that took his breath away. A Little baby was killed in a brutal way. People were running away with their children. They looked scared and terrified. He knew this village was near his hometown.

When his father noticed, Jad was already looking at the terrible news. His father tried to change the channel, but Jad shivered, stood up and ran to him.

"Father, what is going on that village?" Jad was mortified from the death scene.

Jad’s father was confused about telling his son the truth. It was a disturbing news to be told to a little child.

He hesitated a moment then said, "These bad problems are happening far away from our home. We are safe and restrained from any harm."

Jad looked back at the TV. He was thinking about these kids. They were looking fearful.

He said, "I am sure their parents will keep them safe.”

Jad could not sleep that night, he was thinking about that awful news. Children were dying. People were crying and running away from the bullets.

He was scared. He tried to sleep, but it was a long night.

Later, Jad woke up screaming and crying, “Don’t hurt my mother, please. Go away.”

His mother ran to him and said,” wake up, I am here. It is a nightmare.”

Jad opened his eyes, and he looked around to make sure that it was only a bad dream.

Jad said in hopeless voice, “I saw bad people in my dream, and they were trying to hurt you, mom.”

She smiled and said, “It is a bad dream. Nothing will happen to me or you.”

After one week, Jad noticed that his father was acting weird, but he did not know what was going to happen.

Jad asked him, “Dad, what is happening with you? Are you all right?”

His father hugged him and replied, “I have some problems at work. It is not a big deal.”

Jad entered his room. He was trying to sleep; instead he was thinking that everything would be fine, because his father told him the truth.

Jad had this nightmare every night. His parents were trying to calm him and assured that nothing was going to happen.

One night, Jad woke up suddenly. He heard loud noises. He felt something was happening around him. He saw his mother holding his little sister, while she was crying from pain.

His mother shouted and said, “Bring Jad quickly. We must leave now. They are shooting everywhere. It is not safe here.”

Jad ran to his father and said, “What is happening out side?  Are we going to die?”

His father told him, “I am sorry, because I did not tell you the truth. The combat reach to us, and your little sister was hurt.”

Jad looked toward his sister and saw the blood was covering her body. He and his parents were running fast to reach safe place.

Jad was surprised. He could not believe what was going on. He was listening to the sounds around him. He saw houses were on fire, and people were running away. They were looking for safe place to hide from bullets.

He said, “Father, this is not a nightmare. It is really happening.”

Jad knew that war was very bad. People were suffering and dying, but in the end, they were dreaming about piece,
