Seduction of the Shadows

About another time and place

Was it really worth the time

Living outside of the mind

A world of perpetual haze

Everything out of phase

 

Like a ship lost at sea

In a smoke filled reality

The sticky green act of submission

Achieved with the ignition

 

Of  a sacrament to the other side

A place of unfettered insight

For a price

 

Was it really worth the hell

Of torturing myself

With things that only I could see

Outside of reality

 

Time and space had opened up

But it was not enough

From the dawn of history

I’ve always been fighting me

 

I can see the mists of eternity

But I’m not free

I’m paying a price

 

The seduction of the shadows

Speaks to me

The shaman’s dance

Speaks to me

It makes more sense

Than the here and now

For this is temporary

Corporeal existence

is temporary

The body is temporary

The soul is forever

The mind transcends reality
