Pearl in calmer tides

The ocean’s calmed its angry roar 

Its waves lap smoothly at golden shore

The tides now calmly ebb and swell

Yet I’ve still a mean, cold pearl inside my shell

Can you forgive, dearest love

A wilted flower, a silent dove?

A grain of sand, swathed in white

Glows softly in the evening light

I'll be honest, looking back through my writing I've gone off this. Too soppy for my taste. I don't like to delete work for no reason, so I'm leaving it up.

Were there mistakes made or choices regretted? Perhaps actions not done or words not said- silent dove. Regardless, the recognition that something special is still inside makes this piece for me. Surviving the angry roar of the ocean, the waves and tides. I wonder though, does the pearl sometimes view itself still as a grain of sand? Or maybe feeling a little like it's old self after such a rough time? Still it seems to manage to continue to glow.
