Shalimar Indentations

Hello morning.
I see you’re up and about.
Could’ve used your brightness last night
when I felt you gone.
Your side of the bed
still warm
with the incense of you
and your Shalimar indentations.
But all I knew
was the dark of night.
Funny,
the things that haunt you,
even in the mourning sunlight.

"Mourning" sunlight......now you know no one is supposed to mourn in the morn...it is just not done, Curt! Shalimar....my mom used to wear that cologne and while this is certainly not a poem about a mom, it made me think of her. It is amazing how a scent becomes the person....we smell it and it takes over our senses. Indeed, to a haunting degree. Very emotive write, Curt....and also "nice." lydi**

who isn't there can make a bigger impression sometimes than who is there.
