Love Sonnet XLVII

 

 

I saw you, but

you never saw me,

even though I was there,

right in front of you.

 

I wish I could have told

you what I saw in you, how

your smile warmed my heart

beats; how your words would

 

dance and tingle my spine.

But you never saw me the

way my eyes glimmered, the way

 

I saw you. At the break of day,

as the stars winked out, my dreams

were of you, but you never saw me.
