Love Sonnet LX

 

 

It’s been a while since I saw

you, the time just slips away

into the fog of memory, but here I

am, picking the strings of those

 

cobwebs, playing our once favorite

song. Yes, it’s been a while since

Carole wove a tapestry, but too loose

to hold us together. You were my

 

true love. The one I wanted and

needed forever. Oh, I have loved again

but never so deeply, as you held

 

so much of me, and I can still remember

how you taste. Yaara, it’s been a while,

but I never told you, I’m sorry.

Oh those cobwebs from the past, how they have a habit of reappearing, to stir up memories and emotions of heart ache and longing. Songs of nostalgia and regret. Curt, this is beautiful poetry.

Ash Blair is an amazing guitarist! You don't often see guitarists using the neck in rock music, but she is excellent. I would include her in my top 5, and this is just after listening to a few of her covers and songs. Thanks Jacob for the intro to Ash Blair, and for your wonderful comment.

That whole album (Tapestry) was our favorite. Some really good music found there. ("The sky come tumbling down" part of the song you mentioned). Thanks for your visit, your comment and for the Ash Blair conversation.

Warrior, So Far Away... That one has to pull at your heart strings.

yes, along with "It's Too Late". And I've always wanted "You Have A Friend" be in the mix as well. But this never happened.

Curt, that's why we write. So many subjects you have at your fingertips! I envy you! "Though we really did try to make it" what an awesome phrase. Poem worthy, but not for me. I never really tried so I don't know how to word it.

A quick note, I know there is a school of thought that says you really can't know something if you don't experience it directly. I don't agree with this outlook. We learn lots of things without experiencing them. There is direct and indirect knowledge. In fact most of what we come to know is through indirect learning. Yes, learning something through experience is important, but never be afraid to write about something you have only read about, or learned through other's experiences. Another good thing about learning is that we never stop. At least not until we are dead and gone.

This is so tender and aching -- I can feel the weight of time, memory, and regret woven into every line. The imagery of cobwebs and song is especially powerful, carrying both nostalgia and sorrow. Beautifully expressed.
