Love (Spoken Word)

Love is a feeling,

lately it’s been reeling,

making no sound

as it get pound

into the ground by

fascism’s cold heart.

For too long our song

has been unable to start,

our tongue

sequestered, cut out

by traditions and chains

that hold tight.

isn’t it time to fight?

A time to rise, resist,

put our bodies and souls

on the line, clog up

the machinery’s cogs,

make oppression stop.

Love is a feeling

but can be made alive

televised

as we in our millions

rise

throw off these chains

a new society built.

A society where we see

each other whole

our colors vibrant

as vivid as wildflowers

growing in a world made green

where there are no seams

where humanity and love tower.

Seize the time

Seize the power!

....thanks for reading. Not sure if this poem passes as a spoken word piece, but I wanted to give it a try.

And according to the King...it doesn't pass as free speech, but the kind of speech that can cost freedom.
