....ah, the taste of poetry

Love Sonnet LXII

 

 

I have this thing with

Stella, she and I talk

around supper each night.

She always wants to know

 

about my day, how I’m doing,

that sort of thing, while I

hold her tight, my mouth

drinking her in, giving

 

her my warmth and old

age desires. We are a

strange couple, her and I.

 

She has an expiration date,

but been around for 600 years,

yet she aways tastes like more.

RomaJ, you are here, thank you. It is strange how having a beer at supper can produce such intimate thoughts... lol It is fun having an occasional beer with dinner, I should do it more often. But then my poetry would become cynical, like Bukowski's and I am no fan of his, even though he was part of the Beats.

Hi Curt, haha yes, Stella makes quite the dinner companion! 🍻 I love that you could turn something as ordinary as a beer into something layered and intimate. It’s what makes your poem so enjoyable. And I get what you mean about Bukowski; your tone feels more reflective than cynical, more heart than hangover. I’d say Stella brings out the poet, not the pessimist.

I caught my cousin looking at an AI girl on the internet. She was flawless and young. Without a pimple or a sag (here and there), her teeth were straight, her jeans were tightly fitted, her hair was styled, and she was standing provocatively. AI has not perfected age, time, or desire. Thank God that only life and poetry can accomplish that. dana.

AI both distorts and lessons what is real in many ways. My son and I argue about the value of AI all the time. Thanks Dana for your comment and for making life more enjoyable with your poetry.

Dead? hmmmm sometimes it might feel like I am, but then I wake up and well, here I am. Nut if you think I'm dead, I would love to read your eulogy to me. What would you put on my gravestone?? I know one thing, I will continue to write and create no matter what that 'story master' says or does.

Warrior, Do you remember when people here were complaining about how long it took to get through to sign on? I fought this guy in BBB more than once. He is a genius. But he has no empathy. He can't help how he is. But he does not care and will shut us down for sport. Remember how everyone complained he never maintains this site? He created it just to transfer the older people here. Same story as always. He gets what he wants. His mother, The StoryMistress used to keep things in order. God help us all if she has passed. Sorry. I don't go to funerals. I like my friends alive.
