My Soul

My Soul

A Poem by Mariah

My soul is an ocean

brimming with life

My soul is a desert

hot by day, cold by night

my soul is a lone candle

flickering in the dark

my soul is the sun

warming the universe near and far

My soul is a fish

on display behind smudged glass

my soul is a cheetah

legs so strong and fast

my soul is a pillow

so familiar although worn

my soul is a pair of new shoes

with a shoelace already torn

My soul is a cloud

always changing form

my soul is a ship

who has endured many storms

my soul is disappointing

My soul is flawed

my soul is naive

my soul has no law

my soul is has more than one imperfection

my soul has more than one direction

my soul is not the purest of all

but my soul is my soul

and with it I'll stand tall.
