Ready

Ready

A Poem by Mariah

Gazing out of my small window

Realizing how much of the world I’m dying to know

Wondering if there will be any room for me

In a place so big, hasn’t there got to be?

In my numbered years of existence

I’ve experienced countless events

Yet I’m told I’m still so young and naive

It just doesn’t make any sense

I’m lectured about “the real world”

But when is my turn to see it?

I’m ready to find my true self

Why am I the only one to believe it?

I’m tired of hiding from all of my fears

Sick of the anger, sick of the tears

This is my moment to shine

My moment to claim my life as mine

I’m ready to live my life

Whatever’s coming next

I don’t have a clue how it will all unfold

I’ll just have to hope for the best.
