Real Life 911 EmergencyA Story by Richard Lane
Almost 48 hours ago I called 911 because my Dad was having serious breathing problems and I was concerned enough with his situation that I chose to ride in the ambulance on the passenger seat both so I could give information to the Driver. Fortunately I was able to talk clearly enough and I was able to hear my Father's vital signs being repeated back and forth between the EMT's and the Driver as he was typing information into the laptop sitting in the driver's seat. The siren itself was a blessing too because it kept me awake enough to realize I actually hadn't lost my wallet with my ID that I needed if I was to at least get myself a cup of coffee and take time to know I had done the right thing by following my instincts and my natural action to act when I see someone I love and care about who looks like they're just about to die only to find out nothing was wrong with them. At least now I can go to sleep knowing that I don't have to spend my 40 something, or 50 something or 60 something or 70 something crying about what I should have done or could have done.
