FIGHTING THE CLOUDS

FIGHTING THE CLOUDS

A Poem by Robert Robbie Lord Dudley

when the day is done

when the night comes on

for love sake pulls up downhill underfoot on cover petals rest

on petals from scattered all over

each other sweetly a drummer and a dreamer

that flickering speed so on the dial keepin' at times must gotten by

as-liken i never did this before the glance onward

after we gone over at the point taken enuff meaning

i want something different

in my soul pressin' myself making real true

O' the grip on everything tight

fightin' the clouds

seeing all the little stars fly across

each are burning bright

in the sky being you

through the long long

dark dark common road to take

through the short short lines carry

dark dark path stop

as that is the case brings focus for you anyhow for me the better

now we're close afloat my own sweet hand

now we're close ashore

now we're closer explodin'

now we're almost home though i swum blind to see a-first day

as-liken a bird in the grass understand

in the sunshine free hanging on

by some-way in that's my last one to a clearer glass days awash'd

jaded tired through fighting alone as-liken a shiny button depress'd

a-dangling humbled hopeful thinking moving always

in need of repairing and how i dare to do it myself

comes by some ways far-out as spoken

and in an uneasy silence and it was getting so because

wild goes on and will incline straight up

to decline although the trimmings are for you to see

are lagging behind everso at back and beyond to paste papers

to clearly show, oh, there-on wasn't improving much

through the high high

dark dark common road to take

through the low low

dark dark path stop

as-liken a tree in the field

leaning over, reaching down to sticks

what a beautiful, foolish day

things to see, to climb, to think exist

we will find for everything's going cold rocks ahead

through balancing without embracing

as we were all for all twice soaring and falling

us there-on in the haste wants it rolling

another cup of delight could've used it

another cup of coffee so sudden

in these experiences growing waters

brung me swung me soaring falling petals

across the great fires of love is roaring

at sight bestows of a tear drop

to do nothing now after much ado

in tiny boats of flowers flung me

when the day is done

when the night comes on

for love sake pulls up downhill underfoot on petals outside

each other sweetly a-drummer and a-dreamer alike splits

daily on the dial keeps the time apiece

the sum of its parts are firm

through the long long

dark dark common road to take

through the short short lines

dark dark path stops
