A poem about bells...

Wedding Bells

Tinkling notes of silver,

Golden chimes that ring;

Bells with somber tones,

Brighter bells that sing;

Toll in sadness, then

Announce a happy time;

Send out dark alarms

With a fearful chime.

Call in grief or joy,

Call to kneel in prayer;

Messages of music

Sailing through the air.

This is a great piece. Come sadness or joy, the bells are always music--free, beautiful, detached from the myriad of emotions we project onto them. Makes for a wonderful metaphor.

Thanks. I wasn't trying for a metaphor, but see how bells could be used as one.
It is a bit sad to me that such beauty as you express is heard less and less it seems... the sweet silver sighs of the bells... even bell choirs have disappeared... So thankful for seasons when the bells once more spring to life.. and for your words that remind me...
