TREASURE

TREASURE

A Poem by Marie
"

Riches beneath the sea...

"

Waves wink gold and silver

Hinting at the treasure

Lying deep below,

Wealth beyond all measure:

Doubloons, emeralds, sapphires,

Pour from rotting chests;

Diamonds shine like stars

From pearl and ruby sets.

Shipped to royal houses,

Sailed into their doom,

Finding not a palace

But the ocean’s tomb.

These hidden treasures are being sought so fiercely now... ancient, hidden gifts awaiting discovery... and somehow your enchanted words made me think of all kinds of treasures that seem to hide just beneath the surface of our lives.

I agree, I read that we know more about the surface of Mars than we do about the bottom of the ocean
"finding not a palace, but the ocean's tomb"

there is something so haunting about ships that have gone down in the sea...and the fact most are still down there...and have become tombs for so many....

still weird to think about the titanic....and all the people who went down in that floating tomb...
and all of the riches that were on board with those wealthy people.

love the description in this ...

You're most welcome!
Love this Marie. It reminded me of annual school trips to the local museum where some of the Spanish Armada was on display since it met its fate off our Irish coasts. How ironic that Nature and Mother Ireland prevented victory over those who would later split her in two.

Winking waves teasing with gold silver and diamonds is such a wonderfully 'rich' (sorry) image.

A beauty of a poem and image to match. I enjoyed this.
Thank you for sharing.
