FRIENDS

I hope nobody takes this the wrong way...

I wandered lost when they found me"

Two fairies fluttered around me;

Showed me the right path to take,

Kept me from making mistakes;

Guided me right to my home.

Now I‘m no longer alone.

Loyal as Little Folk are

I know that they’ll never go far.

No matter what problems life sends,

I have two fairies for friends

This reminds me of Alexander Pope's The Rape of the Lock where there are sylphs who watch Belinda and keep her from harm. I like this playful type of poem where you mix up alliteration with simpler images that invoke a sense of comfort.

Actually, when I started writing this poem, these were supposed to be angels; fairies just seemed to work better.
