Old Steel

Old Steel

An avenging warrior reclaims his prize.

Old Steel

By Robin Scott Johnson

High noon in the Badlands,

The savage walks the ridge;

Dark skinned, showing brands,

Rifle in hand, target on the ledge.

The thief walks in the shadows,

Pulling his mule on a line;

He is observed from above as he goes,

To the waterhole, covered with slime.

A shot rings out from above.

The man at the pool spins on a heel,

The savage goes down to his love,

At last retrieving Old Steel.
