Willful ExperimentA Story by Rogie-DodgeWho is it? Who is me? Who is in charge?
I sit down and let myself feel comfortable.
Relax. Breathe. I know this isn't going to hurt, it's just the frustration getting to me. This should be so easy. OK. Let the experiment begin. My arm is resting on the table. "Up!", I say in my mind. My arm is resting on the table. "Arm! Rise!," I command of my body. Who is the boss here? My arm is resting on the table. "Lift up, arm!", I think with all my conviction. Screaming the orders in my mind. My arm is resting on the table. S**t. Nothing. I am what I think. The voice in my head, that is me. Isn't it? That's what it tells me. It talks about me and says "I" when it does. Why would I lie to myself? I'm supposed to be in control here, and yet My arm is resting on the table. My face itches, So I lift my arm to scratch it. Damn! Now I'll need to start again.
