Giving up on needsA Poem by ronGiving up on needs
I have given up on needs, wants, and desires. It’s hard to have those in your life when there is no flame in your heart.
I do not mourn or cry at night, or wonder where it has gone off too. I’m sure it has found a new home, the one it had is broken.
My numbness comforts me. I no longer feel the need for such pleasure.
So I sit content not to wish for things that can no longer be. I smile every now and then, just to see what it looks like.
It’s odd to see that smile, maybe it is someone else looking back at me. The face that looks back at me is not really I at all.
I put the smile back in its box. I will pull you out soon I promise; that was so very long ago. © 2013 ronFeatured Review
