Lie peaceful my dear brothers

Lie peaceful my dear brothers

A Poem by ron

Lie peaceful my dear brothers

You stood your watch,

you conducted yourself with pride for country and uniform.

All who saw you,

their hearts swelled with pride,

knowing you protected and served.

You asked only to wear the uniform,

and took on a heavy burden.

The price you paid was higher than should have been asked,

for it was not in a war zone,

or on foreign soil…

it was at home where you were safe,

where you should have never had to blink an eye.

But in the blink of an eye,

the cowards did strike.

They seek to destroy all that is good.

Though we have worn a different uniform,

I am proud to call you my brothers.

Once again my heart is heavy,

my tears fall for you my brothers,

my prayers go out to your families and friends.

Lie still my brothers you have done your service,

you have served and given more than most.

I have not yet gone to Gary Owen,

but if you wait for me on that dusty road,

I will join you in good time.

Until that day tell the inn keeper at the bar,

that the rounds are on me.

Lie still dear brothers.

Yes, it was not a war, nor on foreign soil. Shot in the back while on watch without a gun. Thank you for this.

Thank you.
Thank you Ron, on behalf of Canadian Forces members, all of whom have been affected by the senseless killing last week, on Canadian soil, by fanatic terrorists. The press is trying to whitewash these two separate incidents as mental illness, but the majority of Canadians see it for exactly what it is, Islamic terrorism. Both killers were killed by police and security forces after their cowardly attacks. May they rot.
